Ruth Wood graduated in June 2006 from the School of Jewellery in Birmingham after studying a degree in 'Jewellery Design and Silversmithing'. Afterwards she was accepted to Bishopsland, a prestigious one year stepping stone for Jewellery and Silversmithing graduates to begin working for themselves as designer makers sharing a workshop in South Oxfordshire. After many years of teaching and making from her studio with her cocker spaniel Ruby for company, in March 2014 Ruth decided to set up Ada Gallery her very own jewellery boutique style gallery in Market Harborough, Leicestershire.

Ruth's jewellery & silverware has been showcased in many galleries & shows throughout the UK, including The Harley Gallery, RBSA Gallery, ‘Collect’ V&A Museum, Origin: The London Craft Fair and in publications such as Crafts, Vogue and GQ. Ruth has also received awards & bursaries from Bishopsland, British Jewellers Association (BJA) Creative Leicestershire and the Arts Council.

Her work is inspired by ancient artefacts and treasures, irregular form and the erosion and texture of materials, such as rock formations within caves. In her Cave collection she creates timeless contemporary jewellery combining irregular abstract metal forms with unique one-off stone-set pieces that look almost as if they have been pulled from the ground, creating your very own stone set treasure. The collection is made from silver, gold plated silver or solid gold with gemstones and diamonds.

You can purchase Ruth's jewellery by visiting Ada Gallery in person, or via our online shop. You will find her specific page within Makers or head to her website to view more of her work: www.ruth-wood.com (new website coming soon) or her Instagram (especially in her stories for lots of images of recent work and commissions) or Facebook page.

Ruth has now been based in Market Harborough, Leicestershire, making her jewellery from her studio, at her independent jewellery boutique Ada Gallery for 9 years. With a strong client base that includes radio DJ &  television presenter Jo Whiley.
